The new Faculty of Social Sciences building is being constructed on the Radboud University campus. This new building, covering 25,000m2, will be a modern, inspiring study and working environment where employees and students can meet and where education and research come closer together. Construction is due to begin in 2018, and Radboud University asked AT Osborne to provide the project management for this new building.
AT Osborne has long had experience in managing large fixed asset projects in a complex administrative setting. In this case, it involves not just a new building for the faculty, but also development of the Radboud University campus, resulting in many stakeholders. This requires experienced people who understand how interests, people, programmes and projects can all be brought together to achieve the optimum result. Kees Rezelman, as project manager, is responsible for a team of internal and external employees who are closely involved in developing the campus and Social Sciences’ new building.
The building invites students not only to attend lectures, but also to study, relax and meet other students and lecturers – hence the lecture rooms of different sizes, quiet working zones, workshop rooms, group working areas and hospitality services. The new Faculty of Social Sciences building will be the most sustainable on the campus, as it will be energy-neutral and certified according to the Breeam Excellent sustainability standard.
